There has been a continuing tradition of football at the Park, as shown by the write-up in the Centenary Programme:

"Arborfield Football Club was founded in 1972 and was accepted into the Reading Sunday League. Between the years 1989 - 1991, the club were promoted in successive seasons to reach their present position [in 1994] in Division 4 east. The majority of the players either live in, or have their roots in Arborfield and we are always on the look out for new players.

"Over the last few years, the club have been sponsored by the Swan Public House and many thanks must go to the licensees, firstly Ray Cartwright, who left last year, and Linda Wardle the present owner and of course Bernard Raine, the present manager."

The 5-a-side tournament on Saturday 9th July was won by Tilehurst, and the trophies were presented by Mr Kevin Girdler of Reading Football Club.  Arborfield (well, the Garrison - actually in Finchampstead) now plays host to Reading Football Club's Training Ground.
