 Rebuilding the 'Bull'

Rebuilding the road junction at Arborfield Cross, 2004

From this..

There have been several planning applications for the 'Bull' public house over many years. In the meantime, almost nothing was spent on decoration,  and the pub got into a sorry state. Despite this lack of care, the tenant Liz Reed still managed to give customers a warm welcome and an excellent pint.  Eventually, a plan was approved, and the pub closed in March 2007.

To this..

Enterprise Inns plc. re-opened the pub in July 2007 with new tenants Adrian and Chris Fyfe, who had run the White Hart at Sherfield-on-Loddon in Hampshire for 18 years.

From the front, the main building simply looks spruced-up, but the lean-to on the right has been rebuilt with a steeper pitch.

What might have been..

Enterprise Inns' planning application in 2006 proposed a huge restaurant extension that many thought was out of scale with the site. The application was turned down.
