 The 'Swan' in 1904

This photo, from Alice Allen, shows William Clark (5th from left), customers, children and their friends in 1904, about the date when William took over as Landlord.

Nell Clark identified the following people - and possibly the dog:

"1,  2,  3,  4,  5: William Clark (Landlord), 6: A Salisbury Girl, 7: Alice Clark (lived in Canada), 8: A Salisbury Girl, 9: Salisbury Girl, 10: Nell Clark, 11: Fred Clark, 12: Jim Clark; Dog Spot?"

A year later, the 'Salisbury girls' (who lived just across the road) were going to lose their mother Sarah, who died aged only 33. Harry Salisbury then looked after them on his own. He was farrier working with Mr. Mattingley, who ran both the Post Office and the forge.

Nell and Jim Clark can also be seen on the 1914 view of the 'Swan'.
