Carter's Hill Farm was sold to its tenant Mr Dimond in 1919. Soon after, part of the farm was sold to Berkshire County Council as part of the Smallholdings scheme for returning soldiers. Later, the main houses and outbuildings were sold off, while the fields and more remote barns were sold to the National Institute for Research in Dairying (N.I.R.D.) in 1971.

Some of the Farm was outside of Newland Parish in Winnersh.
