This photo, from the Collier Collection, is reproduced by permission of the Museum of English Rural Life. It is a view of the South Lodge of Arborfield Hall, near to the River Loddon on the Reading Road (the 'Causeway'). Note the ornate chimney, which is echoed by other buildings on the Hall Estate and by others on the Sindlesham Road. The lodge has long since been replaced by a modern bungalow.
