Photograph of Lot 5 taken in 1994 This cottage, known as 'Mole Park Bungalow', is on Mole Road next door to Argyll House (the former 'Mole' Public House), and has a pair of ornate chimneys. Inside, it was distinctly Spartan in 1947: 'Detached brick and tiled Old-fashioned Bungalow containing Two bedrooms, Sitting Room and Kitchen. Estate Water Supply. Outside Washhouse, Coal House and E. C. [Earth Closet].'
It was let to Mr. Lyford, rent-free. Arthur Lyford, by then in retirement in his late 60's, was a listed as a 'carter on farm' back in the 1901 Census. He was originally from Sutton Courteney in Berkshire, while Edith, two years his junior, was from Putney. They lived in the bungalow for many more years, and their names were on the electoral roll in 1960.
