Newlands Lodge, plus cottages at Hughes Green

Part of Lot 1: Newlands Lodge on Mole Road. The main drive up to Newlands is on the right, still lined by iron parkland fencing. It is heavily over-grown; the lawns on the publicity photo are now covered in self-sown trees. Nothing remains of Newlands House apart from some tiled floors and piles of rubble; it burned down mysteriously while the owners were applying for planning permission to erect many dwellings on the site. This building had also been built on the site of an older house that burned down in the 1840's.

Brook Cottages: One of these Cottages at Hughes Green by the ford used to be occupied by Mrs. Simonds, who created extra living space by opening up the bedroom from the adjoining cottage.  This 'flying freehold' was eventually sold to the owners of the adjoining cottage.

Cottages at Hughes Green, next to the Mole Brook

The semi-detached thatched cottages at Hughes Green have long since been merged into a single dwelling, named 'Hunters Point'.
